Redmine Gisaf - Task #15252 (In Progress): Gisaf giving an error while importing Johan's filehttps://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/152522023-11-03T11:33:35ZGiulio Di Anastasiogiulioenrica@gmail.com

Hi Philippe,
I received updated Optic Fibers files from Johan, for points and for lines (attached here as zip file)
While checking the "OFC Points.shp file", I noticed that he has not kept the same fields naming and structure as we told him some time back, so I tried to adjust field names to our structure, changing the field name and removing the extra field "Position" but I got an error saying "value too long for type character varying (6)" (see attached screenshot).Kindly let me know how to proceed, if possible.

In his Optic Fibers line file (Optical Fibers.shp) he has changed the order of the fields, and added an extra field named "Main Line". He specified that this extra field "Main line" can be deleted. The question to you in this case is: do the fields need to be in the same order as that in Gisaf? if yes, then I will spend a bit of time and reorganize them. Kidly let me know, thanks
Giulio
GIS - Task #13115 (In Progress): Server not working after power cuthttps://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/131152021-10-28T11:39:37ZGiulio Di Anastasiogiulioenrica@gmail.com

I have just been informed that there has been a few seconds power cut in CSR, following the all-day power cut. The Gisaf server was not connected to the UPS so it switched off. When office staff switched it on again, it did not resume working. They called me and I told them not to touch anything else right now, so they left it on, but of course it is not working.
I don't know how comes that the server was not connected to the UPS though...
Geomatic studio models for Gisaf - Task #12288 (Resolved): Wells water levels referenced to the m...https://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/122882021-06-03T04:07:03ZGiulio Di Anastasiogiulioenrica@gmail.com

As on today, wells water levels are referenced to the top of casing.
For each well a Correction Factor CF (level difference between the top of casing and the ground) has been measured: perhaps only for the most recently drilled wells it has not been measured. The CF can be positive (when the top of casing is higher than the ground), or negative (when the top of casing is lower than the ground).
The elevation of the ground can be assessed from the contours generated by Harvest for a large area, which are referenced to the mean sea level.
An algorithm has already been created to derive the elevation of a point with respect to the nearest contour.

Taking all this in consideration, water levels in wells can be expressed with reference to the mean sea level using the formula:
(Abbreviations: WL: water level; amsl: above mean sea level; CF; Correction Factor, tc: referenced to top of casing; elev_amsl: elevation above mean sea level)
WL_amsl = elev_amsl + CF - WL_tc

The calculated water level referenced to the mean sea level can be added as an option to the dropdown list of "value", which presently shows only the "level": the option "referenced to mean sea level (amsl) will be then present in the dropdown.

The graphics right now represent in blue color the column of air above the water level in each well: this could be also represented differently, with the blue color representing water and not air any more.

A preliminary estimate of the time needed for this task by Philippe amounts to 10 hours.
At the end of the estimated time (10 hours) Philippe will give an update on the software development: if time needs to be extended to complete the development, it needs again to be estimated by Philippe, and approved by CSR.
GIS - Task #9127 (Resolved): Cross checkhttps://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/91272019-10-14T11:00:42ZSelvarani C

Updating the Color Codes for the features in the AV Geomatics Portal.*

- Color codes need to be standardize.
- We have referred to the Land Based Classification Standards by the American Planning Association.
- We did refer to different standards within the maps used in India but unfortunately none of them follow a single standard.
- Survey of India does not make their standards public.
- Referred to Google Maps color standards of vector symbology
- Finally settled on using the American Land Based Classification Standards for the Major Groups because it also matched with the color codes proposed to be used with our survey data.
- Will refer to architects or the Town Hall if they do use any kind of standards.
GIS - Task #8567 (New): Delaunay 2D and 3D triangulation using catchment points and their elevationshttps://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/85672019-06-28T09:00:04ZDebojyoti Mallickdebojyoti.mallick@outlook.com

Applying Topology Rules to refine borders of Basins using QGIS.

Used Check Geometry and Topology Checker to try and correct ends of basins.

Some Basins looked good and followed the correct rule for overlap while a few of them did not.

Checking through all the rules to eventually look at the possibility of removing the faulty overlaps automatically. Else will have to resort to manual editing for them.
GIS - Task #8380 (Feedback): Understanding Terrain Datasets for vector modelling of DTM using Arc...https://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/83802019-05-27T09:13:00ZDebojyoti Mallickdebojyoti.mallick@outlook.com

The motive of this task is to understand the use of Digital Terrain Models for Basin Analysis and Building from source vector data.

It is also an insight into the Terrain Dtataset in ArcGIS and the properties that are used to define and generate a Terrain Dataset purely from vector sources.

The advantage of using this model would be using the concept of triangulation (Pyramids) to build a more accurate 3D/2D terrain for Basin Analysis using contours and elevation points.

The purpose of this reference is to understand how ArcGIS has created a vector based DTM using original scientific concepts so that we know if this workflow might suit our purpose for fine tuning a terrain for better basin analysis.

We could test this tool to eventually see the outcome and accordingly judge its overall use.
GIS - Task #8303 (New): Health check up residential zone (Priority 1 list)https://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/83032019-05-14T05:59:18ZMeera Natarajan
