Redmine GIS - Support #13822 (Feedback): Need a Login id and password to a Gisaf for entering the tag value.https://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/138222022-03-26T09:49:55ZPushparaj Muthukrishnan

Hi Philippe,

I need a Login id and password to a Gisaf for entering the tag value of each material type. So will it be possible to create for me a Login id and password for Gisaf. Thank you
Geomatic studio models for Gisaf - Task #12288 (Resolved): Wells water levels referenced to the m...https://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/122882021-06-03T04:07:03ZGiulio Di Anastasiogiulioenrica@gmail.com

As on today, wells water levels are referenced to the top of casing.
For each well a Correction Factor CF (level difference between the top of casing and the ground) has been measured: perhaps only for the most recently drilled wells it has not been measured. The CF can be positive (when the top of casing is higher than the ground), or negative (when the top of casing is lower than the ground).
The elevation of the ground can be assessed from the contours generated by Harvest for a large area, which are referenced to the mean sea level.
An algorithm has already been created to derive the elevation of a point with respect to the nearest contour.

Taking all this in consideration, water levels in wells can be expressed with reference to the mean sea level using the formula:
(Abbreviations: WL: water level; amsl: above mean sea level; CF; Correction Factor, tc: referenced to top of casing; elev_amsl: elevation above mean sea level)
WL_amsl = elev_amsl + CF - WL_tc

The calculated water level referenced to the mean sea level can be added as an option to the dropdown list of "value", which presently shows only the "level": the option "referenced to mean sea level (amsl) will be then present in the dropdown.

The graphics right now represent in blue color the column of air above the water level in each well: this could be also represented differently, with the blue color representing water and not air any more.

A preliminary estimate of the time needed for this task by Philippe amounts to 10 hours.
At the end of the estimated time (10 hours) Philippe will give an update on the software development: if time needs to be extended to complete the development, it needs again to be estimated by Philippe, and approved by CSR.
Gisaf - Bug #9468 (Feedback): "Find my Location" button on map returns strange result !!https://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/94682019-12-19T11:17:24ZRichard Presley

I clicked on the "Find My location" button on the map:

Applying Topology Rules to refine borders of Basins using QGIS.

Used Check Geometry and Topology Checker to try and correct ends of basins.

Some Basins looked good and followed the correct rule for overlap while a few of them did not.

Checking through all the rules to eventually look at the possibility of removing the faulty overlaps automatically. Else will have to resort to manual editing for them.
GIS - Task #8380 (Feedback): Understanding Terrain Datasets for vector modelling of DTM using Arc...https://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/83802019-05-27T09:13:00ZDebojyoti Mallickdebojyoti.mallick@outlook.com

The motive of this task is to understand the use of Digital Terrain Models for Basin Analysis and Building from source vector data.

It is also an insight into the Terrain Dtataset in ArcGIS and the properties that are used to define and generate a Terrain Dataset purely from vector sources.

The advantage of using this model would be using the concept of triangulation (Pyramids) to build a more accurate 3D/2D terrain for Basin Analysis using contours and elevation points.

The purpose of this reference is to understand how ArcGIS has created a vector based DTM using original scientific concepts so that we know if this workflow might suit our purpose for fine tuning a terrain for better basin analysis.

We could test this tool to eventually see the outcome and accordingly judge its overall use.
GIS - Task #8299 (Resolved): Understanding The Things Network Fair Access Policy and Gateway Limi...https://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/82992019-05-13T10:25:39ZDebojyoti Mallickdebojyoti.mallick@outlook.com

Adding and using ESRI basemaps to QGIS 3.4

Using Quick Map Services Plugin

- Using the QuickMapServices Plugin is probably the easiest way to add basemaps in QGIS. This beloved plugin has just been updated to work with the new QGIS 3.0. To add in the plugin just do the following:
- Open QGIS. Go to Plugins Menu >> Manage and Install Plugins...
- In the Plugins Window, search for QuickMapServices then click Install button. Note if you have this plugin installed from a previous version of QGIS then it may have been updated as well.
- After it installs, you should be able to find QuickMapServices button in the Web Toolbar.
- Click on the button to get the drop down menu >> Settings. In the QuickMapServices Settings window, go to the More Services tab >> Click Get Contributed Pack to get more basemaps. Then go to the Visibility tab and turn on/off the basemaps you want to display in the menu. (As of yet the QGIS installed on SYSTEM- 2 has all basemaps turned on)

XYZ Tiles (Much easier method)

- The second way to add basemaps in QGIS is to use XYZ Tiles by connecting to a tile service. Right click on XYZ Tiles >> New Connections. In the XZY Connection window, fill in the info and you should be good to go.
- But if you prefer to use a script to add in multiple basemap sources at once, here is a python script to do just that -- it is super handy. Much thanks and appreciation to the many out there for sharing their work. Go to "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/klakar/QGIS_resources/master/collections/Geosupportsystem/python/qgis_basemaps.py" and copy and paste this in the python console in QGIS.
- To open the Python Console, go to Plugins Menu >> Python Console.
- Then in the Python Console window, paste in the script that you copied from the URL linked above. Run it and you should see a list of basemaps under the XYZ Tiles in the Browser panel and you will be able to add your desired basemaps.

Disclaimer : Some basemaps might have restricted scales so you will have to choose which map best suits your purpose.

The "old admin" is hosted on the "old" virtual machine, that was used originally.

That was migrated to Debian 9 some time ago, so we can now migrate this installation to the same VM on which the main gisaf runs, smoothing the integration of "old admin" and the main gisaf, also freeing resources on the bare server and easing server management.
GIS - Task #7732 (Resolved): Water level in Angad's wellhttps://redmine.auroville.org.in/issues/77322019-02-21T06:36:59ZGiulio Di Anastasiogiulioenrica@gmail.com
