What is Aurinoco's backup service?¶

Aurinoco's backup service provides off-site backup for your files. Off-site backup is important in case something like fire destroys both your primary files and the on-site backup.

You can replace your computers but you cannot replace your files.

Cost¶

Backups require tapes or disks and associated servers. Thus they have a real cost in hardware that has to be bought outside Auroville. So Aurinoco must charge for backups. Prices will be calculated to cover actual cost only.

Supported operating systems¶

Linux¶

The service is implemented and tested for both scheduled and client-initiated backups. It has no clients yet.

Windows¶

• Scheduled backups: implemented and tested. No clients yet.
• Client-initiated backups: implemented and tested except for notification mails. No clients yet.
