Aurinoco's backup service provides off-site backup for your files.  Off-site backup is important in case something like fire destroys both your primary files and the on-site backup.

You can replace your computers but you cannot replace your files.

Backups require tapes or disks and associated servers.  Thus they have a real cost in hardware that has to be bought outside Auroville.  So Aurinoco must charge for backups.  Prices will be calculated to cover actual cost only.

The service is implemented and tested for both scheduled and client-initiated backups.  Blue Light is a client on behalf of several organisations it supports.  CSR is a client.

Windows systems can be backed up to SMB shares (also known as Windows shares) provided by Aurinoco's backup service.  Blue Light is a client on behalf of several organisations it supports.
