The connection is slow. What to do?

TODO: create a separate page for the "Power cycle the network devices" steps (same text is used on The connection is not working. What to do?)

  1. If there is a download running, wait for it to finish or pause it
  2. Test the internal speed using http://speedtest.iciti.av (requires using Aurinoco's DNS service, details at Which_DNS_servers_to_use). Take a screen shot of the result
  3. Test the speed by clicking here. When the map appears select Bangalore, Bharti Airtel (needs some patience and ingenuity). It is the only test server we have found to give consistently credible results. Take a screen shot of the result
  4. Power cycle the network devices
    • For GPON Users
      • Turn off the router (TP-Link).
      • Turn off the Modem.
      • Turn on the Modem and wait for all the lights to come on.
      • Turn on the router and wait for all the lights to come on.
      • Check the speed.
    • For Non-GPON Users
      • Turn off the router (TP-Link).
      • Turn on the router and wait for all the lights to come on.
  5. For WiFi users
    • If the WiFi signal is low move the modem closer to the computer.
    • If that is not practicable or the WiFi signal is still too low, upgrade your router to a more powerful model.
  6. Is the connection slow for all Internet services? All websites? Email etc.?
    • If it's just Internet browsing, try various websites to see if they are all affected.
    • If it's just emails maybe the problem is with the email server. Give them time to fix it and re-test.

If the above steps didn't fix the Internet connection speed, contact Aurinoco via How to contact Aurinoco? by email including a screen shot of the speed test.
