The connection is slow. What to do?

  • Is the connection slow for all Internet services? All websites? Email etc.?
  • If it's just Internet browsing, try various websites to see if they are all affected.
  • If it's just emails maybe the problem is with the email server. Give them time to fix it and re-test.
  • For WiFi users
  • If the WiFi signal is weak move the modem/router closer to the computer/device using internet. (within 15 mtrs on a direct line of sight) and follow steps 1 to 4.
  • If that is not practicable or the WiFi signal is still too low, you may need to upgrade your router to a hi-power wifi model or follow steps 1 to 5;
  1. If there is a download running, wait for it to finish or pause it
  2. If you are unable to do the following speed-tests, power cycle the network devices and try again.
  3. Test the intranet speed using http://speedtest.aurinoco.net (requires using Aurinoco's DNS service, details at Which_DNS_servers_to_use).
  4. Test the Internet speed using http://www.speedtest.net/. Click on "Change server" and search for Mumbai or Bharti. Choose Bharti Airtel Ltd, Mumbai. Click on Go.
  5. When the tests have finished, take a screen shot of the test results and mail to mentioning the date and time of test.
